INSPIRATIONAL SPEECH CHECK LIST
- I have selected a topic that involves one or more cultural
values or virtues or a person, group, organization, or endeavor that embodies
these ideals.
- My topic, while entertaining, is not so light as to be flippant
or without value to my audience.
- I have clearly stated the purpose of my speech as hoping
to magnify a heroic ideal and inspire the audience to identify with it.
- My thesis statement has been clearly articulated in one complete
declarative sentence.
- My introduction gains attention and interest, and establishes
my credibility.
- I have adequate supporting material for my main points, and
this rational or dramatic material clearly demonstrates that I have researched
my subject responsibly.
- My assertions are ethical in that I have not overstated my
case nor exaggerated the facts. My language is not offensive or demeaning
to any person or group.
- My conclusion contains a summary that recaps my message and
concluding remarks that reflect on the significance of the thesis.
- My presentation has been extemporaneous, using language appropriate
to an oral style.
- I have practiced in the Speech Lab and turned in all necessary
planning and evaluation sheets.
