Luke Sodergren, a senior trombone major, has been accepted at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Luke will perform his senior recital on April 19, and will perform Blue Bells of Scotland with the Luther College Trombone Octet on April 20 at the Brass Ensembles Concert. The Luther College Trombone Choir will also perform. See below for further details.

 

Welcome Grant Harville, Instructor of Tuba/Euphonium at Luther College.

 

Luke Sodergren, winner of the 2006 Concerto Competition, performed the Rota Concerto (1st movement) with the Luther College Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the CFL Main Hall.

Tuesday, October 9, 2007, NRH 8:00 pm. Michael Smith, Faculty Tenor and Bass Trombone Recital, Du Huang, piano. Works by Casterede, Larrson, Vaughan Williams, Koetsier, and Hidas.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007, NRH 7:00 pm. Sarah Denkinger and Robbie Coe, Sr./Jr. Euphonium Recital. Solo works by Schubert, Alexander von Kreisler, Haddad, P.V. De La Nux, Croce-Spinelli, and Senaillé. Program will close with two Concert Duets by Blazhevich.

Wednesday, November 7, CFL, 7:00 pm. Brass Ensembles Concert featuring the Trombone Choir, Horn Choir, and the Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble.

Friday, November 16, 2007, Westby, WI, 7 pm. Dr. Smith will conduct the Festival Trombone Choir at the Western Wisconsin Trombone Day. Solo performances by Harry Watters, Mark Hetzler, and Michael Smith. Special performance by the Luther College Trombone Choir. All performances open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend and perform with the Festival Trombone Choir. Contact Dr. Smith for more information - 563-387-1179.

Thursday, February 7, NRH, 2008, 7:00 pm. Guest Recital, Matthew Walker, former bass trombonist of the Sydney Opera with Dr. Smith on tenor and bass trombones, and a performance by the Luther College Bass Trombone Octet. Matthew will also give a masterclass from 9:40-10:30. All events are free and open to the public. Please contact Dr. Smith if you have any questions.

Saturday, February 16, NRH, 7:00 pm. Benjamin Yates, Senior Trombone Recital (Alto, Tenor, and Bass Trombones). Works by Brubeck, Mozart, Ewazen.

Saturday, March 1, NRH, 4:00 pm. Timothy Peterson, Senior Trombone Recital. Works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Hutchinson, and Lotti.

Sunday, March 2, NRH, 4:00 pm. Alex Wyatt, Junior Trombone Recital. Works by von Kreisler, Guilmant, and Cope.

Sunday, March 9, NRH, 7:00 pm. Jackson Felde Sr. Trombone/Composition Recital. Works by Halsey Stevens and Jorgensen. Jackson will also premiere an original piece for trombone quartet.

Saturday, March 15, NRH, 7:00 pm. Josh Leinen, Sr. Tuba Recital. Program TBA.

Aaron Nyquist, April 4, NRH, 8:30 pm. Senior Trombone Recital (tenor and bass trombones), works by Larsson, McCarty, and Kreisler.

Sunday, April 20, CFL, 4:00 pm. Brass Ensembles Concert featuring the Trumpet Choir, Trombone Choir, the Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and a double brass quintet feature. This event is free and open to the public.
